Berta Kissinger was born in Bad Kissingen on September 7, 1880 as the daughter of David Kissinger and his wife Sophie, née Felsenheld. Little is known about her life. She moved to Würzburg with her mother, married the merchant Ludwig August there and lived with him and their three children in Frankfort. While Berta’s sister Ernestine (née Mannheimer) and her family died in Nazi extermination camps, Berta obviously emigrated to Portugal with her husband, where he died in 1940. After his death Berta emigrated from Lisbon to the USA in October 1942 and lived with her daughter Elsie in New Jersey. There she died in April 1972.
