biography

Dr. Isaac Bamberger was born in Bad Kissingen on July 3, 1877 as the son of Bad Kissingen’s rabbi for many years, Moses Loeb Bamberger, and his second wife Esther, née Goldschmidt. At first, he lived at Maxstrasse 5, later at Theresienstrasse 5b. Between 1887 and 1889 he attended Kissingen Realschule. In January 1916, he was contracted for his military service in Zweibrücken, but returned to Bad Kissingen in October 1917. After studying at university, he practiced as a doctor in Bad Kissingen.

He belonged to the few Zionists in Bad Kissingen. In his liberal attitude, he was also very different from the orthodox family of his father and his sister. The Zionist attitude prevented him from the fatal illusion of hoping for an improvement of the political situation and encouraged his decision to leave Germany in time. On November 1, 1934, the unmarried doctor moved to Palestine and died in Jerusalem in 1948.
