Martha Burghardt, née Leuthold came from a long-established Jewish family in Bad Kissingen. She was born in Bad Kissingen on November 22, 1896 as the daughter of Salomon Leuthold and his wife Rosa, née Bergmann. Her father followed the family tradition as a tailor and owned a textile shop at Marktplatz. Martha had an older brother Leo (*1892) and a younger sister Gertrud (*1899), who died in Berlin in 1926.

Little is known about Martha Burghardt’s life. She married the merchant Fritz Doctor from Berlin-Charlottenburg in Bad Kissingen in August 1922. 

In November 1923, their daughter Ingeborg was born in Berlin. Martha's husband Fritz Doctor worked as merchant with an agency and was still listed in the 1937 Berlin address book in Berlin Schöneberg. The family then managed to flee to Argentina and Martha's older brother Leo was also able to emigrate to the United States. Obviously, she married again later, and has been known as Martha Burghardt since. Martha's daughter Ingeborg married Julius Heinz Löwenstern in 1952, a cattle dealer's son from Korbach, in Buenos Aires. He came from an old-established Jewish family in the North Hessian community. In December 1939 he managed to escape to Argentina with his parents and four siblings.The descendants of Martha Burghardt's  daughter Ingeborg now live in Argentina.

After the end of the Nazi dictatorship, Martha and her brother Leo had an epitaph installed in the Jewish cemetery in Bad Kissingen: “In memory/ of our unforgettable father /Salomon Leuthold/ perished in Theresienstadt/ Leo Leuthold – USA/ Martha Burghart/ née Leuthold – Argentine/ He was the last of our family,/ who had continuously lived in Bad Kissingen/ for over 500 years”.

Martha Burghardt died in Buenos Aires - the date of death is not yet known. Her descendants live in Argentina today.
