Fanny Walter was born in Poppenlauer on January 16, 1911 as the second child of the merchant Max Walter and his wife Rosalie, née Ochsenmann. She had an older sister.

In May 1922, the family went to Bad Kissingen and first lived in Bachgasse there, later in Hartmannstrasse there. Her father ran a wholesale firm for eggs and butter in Weidgasse 1. Till January 1929, Fanny stayed with her parents and in the next years lived in Nuremberg, Munich and Frankfort/ Main. In between those stays, she lived for some weeks in Bad Kissingen again and stayed with her parents in Ludwigstrasse.

In December 1934, she left Bad Kissingen for good and first moved to Basel.

She married the merchant Nathan Rhein, with whom she had a daughter (Yael) and two sons (Gidon and Joshep). Nathan Rhein worked in Basel on Birsigstrasse as a wholesale merchant for linings and textiles.  The family managed to escape to Palestine in time. They lived there - initially in Jerusalem - in the immediate neighborhood of their parents and sister, who had also emigrated.

Fanny Rhein died in 1968; she was buried - like her parents and sister - in the cemetery of Pardes Hana in the Sharon Plain.
