biography

Dr. Norbert Ehrenreich was born in Berlin on May 11, 1920 as the first child of Max Ehrenreich and his wife Elfriede, née Wolkiser. His younger brother Ralf Jon was already born in Bad Kissingen in 1922. Both parents were doctors and practiced in Bad Kissingen in the summer months and in the capital of the Reich in winter. Their surgery was first in Ludwigstrasse 17 and then in Kurhausstrasse, where Dr. Max Ehrenreich practiced as a physician and specialist of internal and X-ray medicine and his wife Dr. Elfriede Ehrenreich-Wolkiser as a gynaecologist and pediatrician. In September 1937, the Ehrenreichs moved to Berlin for good. 17-year-old Norbert Ehrenreich emigrated with his father to New York in January 1938. His mother and his younger brother Ralph followed a year later, which made it possible for the Ehrenreich family to live together in an apartment in New York in 1940.

Norbert Ehrenreich studied mathematics and statistics at Columbia University and graduated there in 1945. In the course of his career as an academic, he became a Professor of Economy, Trade and Marketing at the University of Kent/ Ohio and wrote numerous publications on market research. In 1952, he married Mary Lou Lynch in Manhattan. They had a child together.
