biography

Dr. Ralf Jon Ehrenreich was born in Bad Kissingen on January 27, 1922 as the second child of Max Ehrenreich and his wife Elfriede, née Wolkiser. His older brother had been born in Berlin in 1920. Both parents were doctors and practiced in Bad Kissingen in the summer months and in the capital of the Reich in winter. Their surgery was first in Ludwigstrasse 17 and then in Kurhausstrasse, where Dr. Max Ehrenreich practiced as a physician and specialist of internal and X-ray medicine and his wife Dr. Elfriede Ehrenreich-Wolkiser as a gynaecologist and pediatrician. In September 1937, the Ehrenreichs moved to Berlin for good and made up their minds to leave Germany shortly afterwards. Ralf’s father Max and his elder brother Norbert Ehrenreich emigrated to New York in January 1938. His mother Elfriede and 17-year-old Ralph followed a year later, which made it possible for the Ehrenreich family to live together in an apartment in New York in 1940. After getting US citizenship they called themselves “Enrick”. From then on Ralf’s official name was “Ralph Arthur Enrick”.

Ralph Arthur studied psychology at Michigan State University/ East Lansing and got his doctorate,PhD., in 1953. In June 1957, Ralph Arthur married Kathleen Marcella Krepel from Illinois with whom he had a daughter.

Dr. Ralph A. Enrick’s last place of residence was Park Forest where he died in July 1987 at the age of 65. His wife lived till 2007 and died at the age of 82.
