biography
Edith Aronheim, née Rosenberg, only lived in Bad Kissingen for a short time, during which time she was employed as a cook at the Apolant Sanatorium.
She was born in Berlin in April 1904, the daughter of the merchant Georg Rosenberg and his wife Pauline, née Cohen, who came from Cologne. The rest of her life is only very fragmentarily known. In September 1924, she married Kurt Michaelis Aronheim, a merchant born in Stettin, in Berlin. The marriage ended in divorce just a few years later, in December 1929. Kurt Aronheim died in February 1939.
Edith Aronheim moved to Bad Kissingen at the beginning of June 1938 and worked as a cook at the Apolant Sanatorium in Menzelstraße. After the end of the spa season, she returned to Berlin in mid-September.
She emigrated to England the following year at the latest and trained as a midwife in the small town of Wetherby in the Metropolitan Borough of Leeds in the English county of West Yorkshire. From October 1939, she was employed as a nurse and midwife at St. James Hospital in Leeds. In the following years, Edith Aronheim moved to Willenhall Staffs in the county of Walsall in West Midlands of England, where she continued to work as a midwife. She died there in June 1957 at the age of 53.
Her mother Pauline fell victim to Nazi terror. She was deported from Berlin to the Lodz ghetto in October 1941 and from there to the Kulmhof (Chelmno) extermination camp in May 1942, where she was murdered.
