biography

Käthe Abramowicz lived and worked in Bad Kissingen for only few months. She was born in Posen/ Póznan in Western Poland on April 19, 1906. Only very little is known about her life. She was never married and lived in Berlin/ Mitte later on.

At the beginning of May 1938, she moved to Bad Kissingen and was employed as a kitchen help in Hotel Apolant. In July 1938, she already returned to Berlin and her last address was Köpenicker Strasse 108. From there she was deported to Auschwitz/ Oświęcim extermination camp and murdered there. Exact details concerning her death are not known.

It hasn’t been feasible to make sure if the two victims of the Shoa, Erich Abramowicz (*1911) and Siegfried Abramowicz (*1915) who had both been born in Posen/Póznan and lived in Berlin/ Mitte and were deported from there and murdered in 1942 and 1943 respectively were relatives of her, possibly younger brothers.
