Update short biographies family Engel (March 2023)
Mark Engel, the son of Martin Engel, who was born in Bad Kissingen in 1920, watched this year's Obermayer Award ceremony and contacted us as a result. We are very pleased that he plans to come to Bad Kissingen later this year to visit the town where his father was born. His father Martin Engel emigrated to the United States as a 14-year-old on the ship "Washington" in December 1934; his classmates Hans Jakob and Herbert Steinberger were also on board.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Mark Engel for the information and photos from the family album, with which we were able to supplement the short biographies of the family and make them more lively.
