biography
Max Eisenburg, the second son of the cattle merchant Oscar Eisenburg and his wife Rosa, née Kissinger, was born in Bad Kissingen on April 7, 1906. On both his mother’s and his father’s side he came from long-established Jewish families in the Franconian spa town.
Since September 1915, he attended Kissingen Realschule, the predecessor of contemporary Jack-Steinberger-Gymnasium, which he graduated from in April 1921 with good success. In 1929, Max Eisenburg left his place of birth and moved to Berlin. There he was a successful businessman. “Bunge & Born” the firm he worked for played a leading role in the international grain trade. His occupational activities also led him to Romania from time to time where he got to know Eli Maria Petzalis from Braila and married her in 1935.
The two of them first lived in Romania until they – as the first members of the Eisenburg family – emigrated to Argentina. From there, Max Eisenburg helped his relatives with their plans for emigration. Max Eisenburg died from Parkinson in Athens on November 21, 1976 but was buried in Argentina.
