biography

Oscar Eisenburg was born in Bad Kissingen on April 12, 1874 as the son of the horse dealer Hess Eisenburg and his wife Betty, née Rödelheimer. He had an older brother, Karl, who later emigrated to the United States. Oscar attended Kissingen Realschule, the predecessor of contemporary Jack-Steinberger-Gymnasium, between 1884 and 1890.

Oscar Eisenburg continued the family tradition and became a cattle dealer. He also had a “Milchkuranstalt” (establishment for milk cures) in Promenadestrasse and rented out rooms for spa guests. In May 1898, he married Rosa Kissinger. The couple hat four children: Carl (1899-1979), Erna (1900-1968), Betty (1901-1984), and Max (1906-1976).

Before his emigration, Oscar Eisenburg lived in Köln-Marienburg with his wife, where their daughter Erna had been living with her family since the middle of the 1920s. In August 1939, Oscar and his wife left Cologne for England and from there emigrated to Argentina, where Oscar Eisenburg died in Buenos Aires on October 20, 1940 at the age of 66. His wife Rosa Eisenburg obviously moved to her daughter in Montevideo, where she died on September 8, 1949. Their sons Carl and Max could also emigrate to Argentina, their daughter Betty survived in Uruguay and Erna fled to Australia.
